Reviews

Below is a list of 13 reviews from external booking websites for Cooks Green Cottage, which ran as a holiday let for 10 years until 2016. After the initial 13 the remaining are reviews left on the original Cooks Green website.

Mr Steven Wright, Liverpool, Merseyside

“The cottage was very well equipped, and the garden was great for the dogs. Everyone had a good time and would go again.”

Mr Jeroen Hesen, Venray, Limburg

“The garden was great to play in and the house had everything for a great holiday.”

Mrs Judith Gray, Newton Aycliffe, Durham

“A lovely cottage with a good garden for the dogs to run in. A great area with lots to do. The helpful owners are next door.”

Mrs Thelma Howchin, Tiptree, Essex

“It was a very pleasant, peaceful environment. The cottage was comfortable and we found it restful sitting in the large garden. It was also good to have no hassle parking 3 cars. “

Mr Laurie Scott, Newport, Isle of Wight

“The property was surprisingly well equipped. We had everything we could have needed right down to a pint of milk in the fridge! It was great to be able to let the dogs out in the garden last thing at night in the knowledge that the garden was secure. Access was easy and flexible and the provision of logs for the burner was a bonus! Brilliant!”

Miss Leila Nandlal, Redhill, Surrey

“The owner was extremely friendly and welcoming. The cottage was so well stocked with every convenience you could possibly want and more! Books, DVDs, wood for the wood burner, such lovely touches. The garden was huge but safely enclosed, which made it ideal for bringing a dog and children. The living room was really cosy, there was plenty of space and it was very clean throughout. Really could not rate it highly enough.”

Mrs Maxine Garrett, Halstead, Essex

“The owner was very friendly, provided us with local information and made us feel very welcome.”

Mrs Davies, Fareham, Hampshire

“Every conceivable convenience had been pre-empted in making this cottage a true home from home. A delightfully idyllic cottage.”

Mrs Moritmor, Ringwood, Hampshire

“Fantastic cottage, everything you could possibly need was provided. Great location would highly recommend.”

Mrs Ballantine, West Molesey, Surrey

“The cottage is very comfortable, cosy and extremely well equipped. The garden is perfect for dog owners and fully secure. It is in an ideal location for visiting The Malverns, Cotswolds and Forest of Dean. We have already recommended the cottage to friends.”

Mr Elvin, Benfleet, Essex

“Loved the wood burner.”

Thank you Sue & Len for making us so welcome. We have thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing week. It was just what we needed. We love your gardens, and watching all the different birds that visit you.

We can recommend The Red Lion and also The Bell at Cropthorne.
Thank you again

Jill (Milton Keynes) & Trish (Selly Oak) – May 2, 2015

Dear Su & Len

Thank you for letting us stay in your charming cottage. A very comfortable stay in a lovely setting & very handy for us getting to the Arena at Hartbury.

Unfortunately not quite the week we were hoping for as Tian had a fall on Thursday & the horse landed on his right leg which is broken in 6 places!!

We are off back to the Isle of Wight with the horses but Tian is still in the Royal hospital at Gloucester after an operation on his leg on Friday.

We will have to come back for him next week!!

If we come to Hartbury to jump again would love to come & stay at the cottage again.
Many Thanks

Jane, Stuart, Brenna, Tian & Amy – Apr 12, 2015

This is the perfect base for Andrew to research the family history at Gloucs Archives, While Tali and I relax and play at ‘home’.
We’re spoilt for choice with 7 riverside pubs to visit from Lower Lode Inn, SW of Tewkesbury, to the Red Lion Inn at Wainlodes. Our favourite is The Boat Inn at Ashleworth with draught perry, delicious carrot cake… and sightings of kingfisher.

P.S. Love your garden.

Jean, Glyn, Wendy, Matthew & Nicholas – Aug 4, 2012

Nice cottage and well equipped.
We enjoyed the “welcome” pack. The only thing that did not comply was the weather, more rain than sunshine. Nevertheless we had a marvelous time and drove almost 3000km to see everything. We looked like Americans seeing Europe in one day. The cottage with the garden are just fine and we had some blackberries from it. Sad to go home already, but we may come back.

Sondrina & Pieter – Haarlem, Holland – Jul 21, 2012

Becki, Victoria and Clare – Aug 14, 2010

We have really enjoyed our week in the cottage. Tali (Welsh Springer) has loved playing in the garden and looking at puss through the cat flap! We’ve been visiting places where family lived in the 18th and 19th centuries, including Ashleworth, Hartpury and Corse on the other side of the river. Ashleworth is beautiful, with its church, little barn, court house and pub (The Boat) beside the river, cuckoo and kingfisher in the background.

Andrew and Wendy Roberts, Cambridge – June 12, 2010

This is our second time staying at your cottage and once again it has been wonderful. We were very surprised to see the little black cat again, but it’s looking better than ever. Bobo, the beautiful black and white rescue dog was another great surprise and me and Anna really enjoyed stroking him.

Dear Su & Len. We had a great time here at Cooks Green Cottage for the last 3 weeks. It was a very charming way to discover the English countryside lifestyle, especially the girls, who hadn’t been here before. We didn’t see you much but thank you for bringing the girls to see the polo ponies; it became a daily ritual. Thank for everything. Merci pour tout!

My seventieth birthday celebrations with my family in Gloucester were great. The icing on the cake was staying here in a cottage tailor-made for us all – daughter Jane, son-in-law Stephane and partner Gwen. I personally love your free range hens.

Alan – Jun 27, 2009

We had no idea how much there was to do in the area. We’ll have to come back for more. Loved the wood burner which helped us make our minds up to get one to fill an empty fireplace that we’ve been deliberating over at home!

Mark, Sarah, Robin, Cara and Jasmyn – Jun 13, 2009

We’ve had a very enjoyable week. The cottage is very comfortable and this area is beautiful and leaves much to be explored on future visits. We enjoyed cycling here as it is far less hill than home. The little black cat will miss us as she has adopted us this week. We return to our own two cats but look forward to coming back.

Su, Len. Everything perfect, the dogs – Fizz & Maisie have had a ball! Your sweet dog Pula. I loved her right away, Maisie barked too much but she loved Pula too! Hope to come here again.

Dear Su & Len. What a lovely spot. We felt very comfortable and as hosts you have thought of everything! A lovely garden and great countryside, it’s just a shame we couldn’t stay longer. Recommend Winchcombe – lots of nice shops, pubs and things to do. Thanks again for everything

Dear Su & Len -thanks for the stay at your lovely cottage. It’s the first time I’ve been able to get here but it certainly lives up to the good things Julian, Sophie and Niall have said about it. We had a great time – giant frosted cobwebs along the side of the cottage looked magical. Hope you hvae a good New Year and look forward to seeing you again in 2009. Very best wishes

Karen, Julian Sophie and Niall – Dec 31, 2008

A charming cottage, very welcoming and well-equipped, Many thanks for all the thoughtful touches – the welcome pack, milk, good explanations on how everything worked, the choice of videos, games, books for all ages – much appreciated. It was like staying at a friend’s house for a week. Also like the way that it is an eco-friendly house and chance to compost and recycle. Very friendly black cat purred companionably in the kitchen. Thanks a lot.

We have had a lovely week. The cottage was well equipped with everything you could wish for. Like the previous guest said, I don’t know who enjoyed it more, us or the dogs. They had a wonderful time and more importantly they were safe in the garden. Kind regards

Cottage is very clean and comfy. Great base from which to explore. Had a really relaxing time before we take on our new pub venture. The Farmers Arms has good beer and food, very nice and reasonably priced. The Haw Bridge does a fantastic Sunday Carvery. If you like Indian food the Rajshahi on the High Street in Tewkesbury. Dogs loved the garden. It’s a shame we had to leave early due to bereavement but rest assured we will return. Good luck and best wishes

Thank you for a lovely stay. The girls enjoyed playing with the cats. (The cats coped well with the squealing!) The weather was good – lots of sun. The area was beautiful – the girls especially liked feeding lambs at Cotswold Farm Park and the big climbing tower and slide at Sudeley Castle. Thankyou. God bless. Thanks for the fresh eggs too.
