You may have discovered it is sometimes difficult to find somewhere that welcomes children and dogs in the evenings if you want to have something to eat at a pub or restaurant. We have discovered some very nice pubs around the Gloucestershire area that not only welcome children and are dog friendly but also have delicious food on offer and some nice walks to use up the calories after pudding!

The Wild Duck Inn – EWEN
This old quaint pub founded in 1563, is dog and child friendly with an excellent menu and wide selection of ales. The pub is located in the Cotswold Water Park surrounded by 70 lakes, A walk with the dog and kids will build up healthy appetites all round.

The Red Hart – AWRE
Dogs are very welcome in the bar area or garden of this super pub situated in a mainly undiscovered part of the Gloucestershire countryside. Food is fabulous using local produce and serves real ales and many ciders. The pub itself is 15th Century quaint and interesting. Very nice river walk after your pub meal beside the river Severn which is a five mile circle back to the pub again – just in time for afternoon tea.

The Kings Arms – BADMINTON
Built in 1652, this beautifully restored Grade I listed 17th Century coaching inn is in the Cotswolds village of Didmarton. It has an award-winning restaurant, renowned for many dishes such as fresh game, all made with local produce. They also provide a superior range of local beers and real ales, plus good wines from a well-stocked cellar. Dogs are allowed in the back bar. The King’s Arms is also featured in the Michelin and Good Pub guides so you can rest assured you will eat well (and so will your pup!).

The Beckford Inn – BECKFORD
Set in a superb location on the north west edge of the Cotswolds, this attractive old coaching inn serves really fine food. They grow their own vegetables and use local beef. The gardens are very pretty and your four legged pal is very welcome to sit with you here or in the bar but must be kept on their leads. Some lovely walks from the inn and the friendly staff will give you maps – just ask.
